“THE OPERA TRES PENIQUES” FILLED OF WARMTH AND MUSIC THE I.E.S. FELIPE II

The last Saturday “Maestro Eugenio Calderón” Musical Association put on, under the direction of Alejandro Castañeda Martínez, the first concert of the cycle  “Concerts in Family: musical tales suitable for everyone”. The concert offered was “The opera tres peniques (three penny)”, a peculiar show whose characters belong to the underworld and the music alternates and mixes the cultured music with popular rhythms, cabaret and jazz.

In the coldest day of this winter were gathered in the sports pavilion of “Felipe II” high school of Mazarrón about towo hundred people of all ages, nationalities and foreign, that for about 50 minutes enjoyed  the music  of German composer  Kurt Weill and the story of the famous personage Macki “el Navaja”, created by Bertolt Brecht.

The music, masterfully interpreted by the youth of the music team, alternate with the story of Macki, that the narrator with a great sense of humor placed in our town, made the concert more enjoyable and fun. The narrator, Juan Pedro Navarro, presented the show, the music and the musical instruments that were played. He also made that everyone humed the ballad of Macki “el Navaja” and related the story of a near Macki that hypothetically viewed from his window. A story that started with a beggar singing the ballad of Macki, role that played rightlyJuan Antonio García.

The musicians, this time dressed with coats to combat the cold, made a great concert in which highlighted the trombone, trumpet, sax, clarinet and flute roles. The “Maestro Eugenio Calderón” Musical Association gave the best of itself on the stage for that all the attendees enjoyed the concert. Also, the association has thanked to all the collaborators - Town Hall, I.E.S. “Felipe II”, theater group of I.E.S. “Domingo Valdivieso” and media - their contribution to carried it out.
