Mazarrón will celebrate at the end of the month a new sport event that, again, with occasion of the commemoration of  the 440 Anniversary of the concession of the Privilege of Villa and that, in this occasion, has an international character. It is the I International Tourney of Veteran Football “Villa de Mazarrón” that will meet between 28 and el 30 September about 90 players arrived of different places of Europe. in the championship will participate “Zeus FC” team, that comes from the county of  Essex in England, and the clubs “FC Megawatt” and “Krom & Stijf Millen Veteranen”, that will travel from the province of Limburgo in Belgium.

The Spanish representation in the tourney will be championed for 2 teams of Murcia and the “Atlético Orihuela Veteranos” of Alicante. In regard to the teams of the Region, one of them, the “C.D. Bala Azul Veteranos”, will participate in representation of our town. The team “Asociación Tercio Viejo de Alcantarilla”, who has organized the tourney with the Town Hall of Mazarrón, completes the participant teams that will play its matches in the sport center  “Media Legua” on the road that links Mazarrón with Puerto.

The presentation of the sport event was made by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Ginés Campillo, who was with the council of sports, Andrés Valera, the president of the “Asociación Tercio Viejo de Alcantarilla”, Enrique V. Gómez, and the president of “C.D. Bala Azul Veteranos”, Pedro Acosta. The first council was very satisfied “for the starting of this tourney that will promote and with which we will get that, during other weekend, arrive new visitors to our town. Tourists that will be added to those of the class regatta cruise that also will play these days”.

Ginés Campillo thanked to the “Asociación Tercio Viejo de Alcantarilla” its work to undertake this initiative “that we have organized in benefit to the town and with the intention of extending the most possible the summer season in Mazarrón”. On the other hand, Enrique V. Gómez highlighted “the good predisposition of the Town Hall and its Mayor so that we can organize this event inMazarrón” and advanced that  “there is already an interested team in coming for the next edition, and that it couldn´t come due to other commitments”. The president of the veterans of  “Bala”, Pedro Acosta, thanked to the government team the startup of this initiative  “and that have thought of us to participate in this championship”.

But besides of an sport event, this tourney also has a solidarity aspect as the players of each team wil come to  Mazarrón with a toy that will be given to the Town Hall and to the “Asociación Tercio Viejo of Alcantarilla” who will distribute between the ill children of the Hospital Aula of “Virgen de la Arrixaca” hospital. The council of Sports, Andrés Valera, has encouraged to all citizens “to come and enjoy of this tourney in the sport center of la Media Legua as the entry if totally free”.
