THE BRITISH AMBASSADOR HOLDS A MEETING WITH LOCAL AUTHORITIES, ASSOCIATIONS AND RESIDENTS

Simon Manley is interested in the attentions that affected people receive by floods in Camposol

The British Ambassador in Spain visited last Wednesday the town. Simon Manley has been received at the Town Hall by the Mayor of Mazarrón, Francisco García. Both have held a meeting which also was attended by the British Consul in Murcia and the first deputy mayor of the town, Ginés Campillo. The British representation has known firsthand the care that receive those affected by heavy downpour last Thursday 25th September. Manley thanked the speed with which local emergency services acted and has shown his interest so that the affected area of the urbanization returns to normal as soon as possible. In the meeting has also searched the consensus to facilitate the integration of the British population in the town that has as main barrier the language.

Manley has held later a meeting with the local press and British which carry out their work from the town. Before he has signed the honor book of the Town Hall and has received a copy which commemorates the anniversary of the painter Domingo Valdivieso of Mazarrón. The British ambassador has finished his visit by meeting with British associations and NGOs which carry out their work in Mazarrón.

Currently there are registered in the town 7.716 British, of which 5.270 live in the urbanization  Camposol of the district of El Saladillo . Over 80% of this population is retired, but maintains a very active life in organizations which work for the citizen welfare such as FAST, an organization that provides an important role in supporting municipal health emergencies. The young UK population registered in Mazarrón works mainly in the sectors of construction and services.
