“MODS & ROCKERS” RETURN TO FACE THIS WEEKEND IN MAZARRÓN

Los Ensayos and Uncle Charlie Combo will be the bands that will put the music together with other djs

This weekend Mazarrón will be the stage in which, for second year, the musical-cultural tribes “Mods” and “Rockers” will face. Félix Reverte and Ángel Sánchez, respective representatives of each tribe  and organizers of the event, announced yesterday the details of this event in which the music and the motorbikes  routes through the town will be the protagonists. From 11 am of this Saturday 11th May, “Playa Grande” hotel of Puerto de Mazarrón will receive the arrival of participants that in its first edition exceeded 300.

About 13pm, the “Mods” –with their scooters- and the “Rockers” –with their motorbikes- will start a tourist route separately that  will know different points of the town to meet finally at the garden of the neighborhood of San Isidro, where the Fiestas Committee, that will be celebrating its fiestas in honor to the holy farmer, will prepare an agape and also there will be tasting of beer for the attendees.

In the afternoon, at 6pm, will start in Playa Grande the games that will face to both tribes and the fights of djs, and afterwards the barbecue and the  awaited concerts. Félix Reverte explained that “by the Mods, besides of the english dj Andy McCombe, will perform the mythical group Los Ensayos”. By the “Rockers”, as explained Ángel Sánchez, “will participate the djs Rocket 88, dj Cat-Yu and Jukebox Johnny and the band Uncle Charlie Combo”.

The organization has created some packs for the attendees. The accommodation for Saturday, breakfast of Sunday and the concerts cost 25 euros per person, while that if it is summed the barbecue of Saturday night the price is 40 euros. Also you can attend freely to the fight of djs and the concerts for 10 euros, and enjoy also of the barbecue for 15 euros. On Sunday will finish the event with exhibitions in the hotel. The information is advertised in the website  www.motokulture.net.

Reverte and Sánchez have thanked  “the collaboration and support of the Town Hall of Mazarrón and its Mayoralty, and also to the Fiestas Committee of the San Isidro neighborhood” and explained that “thanks to this support we decided for Mazarrón, as we needed a beach to remember the riots produced in Brighton in May 1964. There, the “Mods” cornered after some days of riots to a group of  “Rockers” and, despite to the police protection, the beach became a battlefield ”. Hence comes the rivalry between both tribes.
