The festivities began with a gala at the Pabellón La Aceña in Mazarrón

Mazarrón welcomed back its Carnival celebrations on February 25 after their pandemic-enforced absence with the gala to celebrate the election of the main personalities of the weekend’s events, the Musas, Musos and the Carnavaleros del Año.

90 minutes of colour, spectacle and joy in the packed Pabellón La Aceña were presided over by Mayor Gaspar Miras and Miguel Ángel Peña, the councillor for Fiestas, with performances by the dancers of the De Rosa and Antonio Jara dance schools and the Ana Ruiz Dance and Fitness Club.

The luminaries chosen for the 2022 Carnival in Mazarrón were the following:

Musa Juvenil - Encarni Paredes

Muso Juvenil - Juan Carlos López

Musa Infantil - Bárbara Pérez

Muso Infantil - Aitor Santiago

Carnavaleras del Año - Juana María Oliver and Isabel Oliver.
