Information for residents of Mazarron wishing to welcome refugee Ukrainian families

The collection of donations to the people of Ukraine continues apace in Camposol

The Town Hall of Mazarrón has confirmed that a new direct contact procedure has been initiated for people who are willing to host refugees from Ukraine, and with specific reference to the large English-speaking population in Camposol and other areas Councillor Silvana Buxton has issued the following message:

On behalf of the authorities I represent, I wish to thank you for your kind interest in offering a home to a Ukrainian family. A regional procedure is now in place and a dedicated email address has been published, to which you should write, in Spanish, expressing your availability.

The email address specified is mazarronconucrania@gmail.com, and the suggested message is as follows:

“Quisiera ofrecer mi ayuda y acoger a una familia ucraniana. Mis datos son los siguientes: (I would like to offer my help in hosting a Ukrainian family. My details are):

Nombre (Name) …

Apellido/s (Surname/s) …

Dirección (address) ..

NIE (NIE number)..

Teléfono (telephone number) …

Correo electrónico (email address) ...”

NOTE: contact may also be made by telephone on 681 270402.

Councillor Buxton adds, “It is my understanding that you will be instructed to write to a regional government email address in order to register your interest. You may receive a questionnaire, or you may receive it from the regional email contact.

All the correspondence will be in Spanish, but if you get lost in the Google translation, I will try to assist as much as possible.”

The Town Hall adds that the taking in of unaccompanied minors fleeing Ukraine will be handled directly by the regional government of Murcia, the relevant contact email being protecciondemenores.ucrania@carm.es. However, at present those children managing to leave Ukraine are almost all accompanied by at least one of their parents.

In the meantime, the residents of Camposol continue to show their generosity and concern: the image at the head of this article shows the items donated on Monday March 14, after they were sorted, condensed and packed for forward transportation.
